JOHN LENNON SIGNED - THE BEATLES 'WHITE ALBUM' The 'White Album' album celebrated it's 50th anniversary last year with the release of a well-received archive box set which as well as introducing the album to a new audience, cemented its reputation of being one of the most important rock albums of all time. Signed LPs by The Beatles, or individual members of, are extremely rare and desirable. The few that are known to exist date mostly from the 1963/early '64 period when they were at their most accessible. As the 1960's progressed, public appearances by members of the group became less frequent and they became harder to reach on a personal level. It is therefore extremely rare to find an original later period record with a contemporary signature. This UK 1968 1st stereo pressing of the 'White Album' (Apple PCS 7067/8) is signed and dedicated on the right inside panel of its gatefold cover by John Lennon in blue ballpoint pen: 'Happy Xmas Nigel, from John Lennon and Yoko'. John did add 'Ono' after 'Yoko' (the impression of it is visible), however the ink has been erased over time. Provenance: Believed to have been the property of a London security officer who was involved in looking after The Beatles in London at the time. Authentication: We guarantee the signature on this item to be 100% genuine. The signature has also been verified as genuine by Roger Epperson, a recognized expert in this field who also authenticates for some of the world's top auction houses. We will provide written authenticity from ourselves (Parlogram Auctions) and that of the opinion of Roger Epperson which will serve as a lifetime guarantee to the buyer. The album comes with both its original UK 1st stereo pressing discs on the Apple Records label: PCS 7067 & PCS 7068 All labels include the 'Sold in UK...' wording. The disc 1 labels omits the 'An EMI Recording' text. Matrices: YEX 709-1, YEX 710-1 & YEX 711-2, YEX 712-1 Stamper codes: 4/OT, 3/OL & 1/TT, 1/GDG House in a fully laminated, top-opening 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed, stereo gatefold cover, numbered on the front No.0329068 Complete with; UK printed poster, 4 colour portrait photos and matt black inner-sleeves. CONDITION Cover: GOOD The cover is fully intact with some light staining to the left corner areas along with general light storage wear. There is some discoloration around the raised wording on the front panel but the number is clean & readable. The inside of the gatefold is clean overall with some of the staining from the front present towards the upper and lower central hinge area. There is also a slight ripple to the left panel. The signature is positioned nicely above the four portraits of the the group and Lennon's dedication and signature is clear and bold. The 'stereo' indicator is present in the upper right corner of the rear panel. The top opening edges have moderate wear, as does the spine. Discs: VERY GOOD Both discs has been played a number of times but all playing surfaces are clean bearing only a few superficial surface marks. Both play without any major audible faults. Poster: FAIR General handling wear with a tear to one fold. Photos: VERY GOOD + All are clean with no pin-holes or tape. There is a horizontal crease across the lower part of John's picture.
