The Burton Family: Someone's Last Day / Jolly Joe Parish: Mama Blues. Independent 101/102. E- condition. Wax has strong gloss, negligible wear and a few inaudible surface scuffs but labels are over-inked; fifteen percent (15%) of side 1 has small inaudible surface spots; and the disc is a bit rough (NAP) on the edge. Altho credited to Joe Parish (who gives us a show-off harmonica piece with gtr on side 2), "Last Day" is an old standard that was recorded by the Carter Family and probably others. The Burton Family -- I think that's what it says -- feature guitar, mandolin and fiddle with a male vocal lead and a female harmony, and they definitely took an old-school approach. Parish seems to have been a B-level performer who appeared on several "barn dance" radio shows in the midwest during the 1940s. Only record on this label I've ever seen, and I've been looking for a long time. PayPal only. Add $5.00 for careful packing and Media Rate postage to USA addresses only. NO INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING ON THIS ITEM. Thanks for looking; use the Ask Seller feature if you have questions; please see my Other Items for another postwar C&W obscurity; and good luck if you bid.
