ROY SMECK, THE HAUNTING HAWAIIAN GUITAR, ORIG 1960 US ABC-PARAMOUNT STEREO LP/EX Roy Smeck – The Haunting Hawaiian Guitar Leroy Smeck (6 February 1900 - 5 April 1994) was an American musician. His skill on the banjo, guitar, and ukulele earned him the nickname "The Wizard of the Strings". Born in Reading, Pennsylvania, he started on the vaudeville circuit. His style was influenced by Eddie Lang, Ikey Robinson, banjoist Harry Reser, Johnny Marvin and steel guitarist Sol Hoʻopiʻi. He could not sing well, so he developed novelty dances and trick playing to supplement his act. Side One: When You Wore A Tulip; I Cried For You; It Happened In Monterey; You Are My Lucky Star; Over The Rainbow; You Were Meant For Me. Side Two: Rose Room; Blue Moon; I Love You; Wabash Blues; Wonderful One; At Sundown. The album is on ABC-Paramount Records, ABCS-330. Matrix side one: ABCS 330 A - 1 Bell Sound (stamped) ABC-S-330-A-1 (written). Matrix side two: ABCS 330 B - 1 Bell Sound (stamped) ABC-S-330-B-1 (written). Released in 1960. USA pressing. Stereo. See photos for more info. Condition: (as Record Collector’s grading system) Vinyl side 1: excellent (has the odd very light superficial mark that does not affect the audio in any way, plays great with no jumps, sticks or clicks and minimal crackle). Vinyl side 2: excellent (has the odd very light superficial mark that does not affect the audio in any way, plays great with no jumps, sticks or clicks and minimal crackle). Cover (paste-on back): excellent (still in the original shrink-wrap only split at the opening edge, two stereo stickers on front) I have tried to give my honest opinion as to the condition. I will give a complete refund to the buyer if they are not happy on return of the record. Any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. Check out the other records that I am selling at the moment by clicking on 'view seller's other items'. RECORD COLLECTOR GRADING SYSTEM: MINT: I very rarely use the mint grade. Only records that are still sealed or records that even under the strongest of lights are completely unmarked. Also covers that are unmarked/uncreased in any way and still look brand new. EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is no lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing. VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable. GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc. FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced. POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing. BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
