PARLOGRAM AUCTIONS presents... THE BEATLES - 'WHITE ALBUM' This beautiful 1st UK stereo pressing of their iconic double album dates from initial November 1968 release. Both discs are on the dark green Apple Records label: PCS 7067 & PCS 7068 All labels include the 'Sold in UK...' & 'An EMI Recording' texts. Matrices: YEX 709-1/710-1 & YEX 711-1/712 Stamper codes: 1/RG, 1/TT & 4/TR, 3/AMG Vinyl weights: 150g & 142g Housed in a superb fully laminated, 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed, top-opening gatefold stereo cover, uniquely numbered No.0506516 100% complete with: 4 portrait photos (+ protector sheet), UK poster & original die-cut, matt black inner-sleeves. CONDITION DISC Labels: MINT - All are in great condition with just two faint spindle trails around the side 1 & 2 centre holes. There are 2 trails on the side 3 label but none at all on 4. Visual: EXCELLENT +/MINT - All playing surfaces are immaculate and totally free from any scuffs, scratches or any other such wear in strong daylight. Even close examination directly beneath halogen light reveals only the characteristic harmless marks from storage within the unforgiving matt inner-sleeve. Tough to find a nicer looking matched set. Audio: MINT -/EXCELLENT + Played just a couple of times on quality equipment, neither disc bears any evidence of any wear associated with play. As with all copies there is intermittent vinyl background on the run-ins and on some quieter passages. The only distraction to catch our ear were 4 pops on 'Birthday' which appear to be caused by a pin-head-sized bump in the vinyl itself. Aside from that, there is nothing more to fault on this great original copy. Cover: MINT - If you are familiar with this album, you'll know how rarely one appears in anything approaching this condition. Careful storage in a clean, non-smoking environment has preserved the cover beautifully and it presents an even white colour inside - a rare feat for a white 52 year old LP cover. Both outer panels retain a perfectly clean, unscratched laminate which is fully intact over the raised wording. The only trace of wear is a small 'thumbnail' wrinkle near the top edge of the rear panel. The corners are in great shape with just the smallest bruise to the tip of the lower right. All of the top-opening edges are sharp and clean too. The small 'stereo' indicator on the rear panel is clear and bold, as unique front number. Both of the inside panels are flawless. Traditionally the weak point of this cover, the spine but on this example is clean, readable at both ends and is without any flaking, split or missing laminate. If you are looking for an upgrade, this is truly worthy of your consideration. Inner-sleeves: EXCELLENT + Clean & flat with a few light wrinkles, but no tears or splits. Difficult to find in better shape.
