Napoleon Bonaparte in a opera?? Yes, and it's not War and Peace...but Umberto Giordano's delightful MADAME SANS-GENE (I've seen it translated as Madame Nonchalance...), complete on 2 LPs (MRF label). The cast includes Orianna Sanatunione as Caterina Hubscher (aka Madame Sans-Gene)j, Franco Tagliavini as Lefebvre, Renato Capecchi as Fouche, and Mario Zanasi as Napoleon. The Orchestra and Chorus of Teatro alla Scala, Milan is conducted by Gianandrea Gavazzeni. The performance took place in February 1967. The accompanying booklet contains the complete sung Italian text and an English translation. The records are in excellent condition, having been in storage for over 20 years. All of these records are from my personal collection. Not played over and over. If you collect vinyl and like late Romantic Italian opera....this is for you. Free shipping in U.S.
