Description In 1987, A&M Records released a super holiday album. "A Very Special Christmas" included 15 tracks, one each by 15 of the most important recordings artists of the 1980s. The artists, as you can see from the track listing below, were almost all superstars then, and some continue to be successful today. The album had many notable hands in the making.The cover art was created by the late Keith Haring (1958-1990.) One of the reasons this album was on A&M is that almost everyone involved (with some historical knowledge of possible discrepancies in the past) seemed to trust A&M to deliver all of the net receipts to Special Olympics International. Which the label did. Since I worked for A&M at the time I received a couple of promotional copies of the vinyl version of the album. This album has been in my collection for more than 30 years, tucked away in a box until now. This vinyl album is A&M SP-3911, released in 1987. This is a promotional copy as evidenced by the cut in the package in the upper right corner (looking at the album front cover). As the package has never been opened I cannot attest to any special sleeves, booklets, etc. I just know that it has been in my collection for 30+ years. Please Note: Over the 30+ years that the vinyl album has been in my collection, some of the gold embossed lettering on the front cover (note the letter "E" in "Very", and all the letters with the exception of "I" in "Special" have lost some of the embossed gold ink.
