CLICK HERE AND LISTEN TO THE SOUNDCLIP / MP3 (our soundburger records faster than normal :( INSTRUMENTAL Lp by ALDEMARO ROMERO y su ONDA NUEVA produced by ALDO PAGANO. Original Venezuelan 1st pressing on the pink VELVET label (LPV - 1634), from circa 1973. Killer session led by the cult arranger and multi-instrumentalist, Aldemaro Romero. An infectious hybrid of psychedelic bossa / groovy jazz and baroque funk revamping the traditional Joropo folk rhythms of the maestro into a "new wave" musical movement called Onda Nueva. A particularly mysterious entry in the Aldemaro discography. As far as we know, this session was recorded in Italy but edited back in Venezuela for a simultaneous release in both countries in 1973 (hence, the sleeve artwork showing Aldemaro in front of the gothic Duomo cathedral in Milan). Maybe the best soft funk example of the Onda Nueva sound featuring Aldemaro on electric keyboards / harpsichord and piano with a unique Italian twist as he apparently plays with crack Italian session men. Aldemaro recordings of the early '70s were a confusing mix of hip re-interpretations of his best material. Same track titles but usually alternative versions with the odd previously recorded arrangement too. For the Instrumental release, Tullio De Piscopo is rumoured to be the drummer (regardless of the batteria credit to Frank Hernandez on the back sleeve of our Venezuelan grail) and arranger / Italian disco god, Pino Presti is on fender bass. That said, some Aldemaro collectors and researchers disagree with who played on certain 'versions' including EL NEGRO JOSE which some say feature legendary latin drummer Frank Hernandez and bass player Jorge Romero instead(?) Others even contest that Italian session players were used as Aldemaro could also play bass and Frank Hernandez also came to Italy in the early '70s to play and record. Even the 1973 Italian issue on Analogy label gives no details of any players. Whatever, we have recorded all of this amazing session for our soundclip and just let it roll from the opening CARRETERA to the final theme. Great for DJs. Sophisticated mood music... stylish bossa lounge that morphs into more delirious and funky movements with drum breaks on several themes. Our item was previously sealed, opened and played once for the recording of our mp3. We doubt you will find a copy with better vinyl than this, regardless of any audible or visual imprefections (to be expected on an early '70s recording from Venzezuela) and the overall sound quality is basically the same as the Italian issue, if not better. Key recordings by his daughter, Elaiza Romero and the infamous Nando De Luca En Puerto Azul session on the same pink Velvet label (with Tullio De Piscopo playing drums :) have similar exotic bossa elements but not as much of the baroque funkiness you can hear on this beauty ;) Striking artwork sleeve design. Rare Lp!!! Full tracklisting: CARRETERA / EL NEGRO JOSE / FOLIE DOUCE / LA BIKINA / DONA MENTIRA / LA SALCHICHA / EL GAVILAN Musicians: Aldemaro Romero - electric keyboards / harpsichord / piano Tullio De Piscopo - drums Pino Presti - fender bass Frank Hernandez - drums / percussion (on "El Negro Jose") Jorge Romero - fender bass (on "El Negro Jose") Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG Vinyl is closer to shiny M- condition overall regardless of a few hairlines / faint paper scuffs and a few old pressing marks (all to be expected for such a pressing). Light surface noises. Some soft pops / ticks (as you can hear on our soundclip). Item was previously sealed, opened and played once for the recording of our soundclip. The hard card sleeve is closer to M- condition overall and is still in its original shrinkwrap. Minimal wear, just some bending to the card from the tight shrink and a tiny, triangular delection hole to the Velvet label logo at the bottom right corner of the front sleeve. Sharp looking item. Camera flash glare to sleeve and label photo. Rare Lp!!! Please feel free to contact us with any condition queries you may have preferably before bidding. We will get back to you asap.
