This is a rare copy (only 1000 made) of Bill Evans' classic Sunday At The Village Vanguard reissued by Analogue Productions on 2-45rpm discs, mastered by Steve Hoffman and cut by Kevin Gray at Acoustech. I am the original owner and the records are in NEAR MINT condition. I have played this album fewer than 10 times in its life. The cover is VG++ due to the slight dents at 2 corners (I don't use 'EX' for grading). Analogue Productions, an audiophile label started by Chad Kassem of Acoustic Sounds, produced a series of classic jazz accessing the stable of labels under the then ownership of Fantasy Records a little over one decade ago, Fantasy Records' stable of record labels included Riverside, Contemporary, Fantasy, and a number of others. Fantasy Records was known for having kept the original master tapes in meticulous, climate controlled conditions. Fantasy Records' attention to quality made their own jazz reissue label, Original Jazz Classics (or OJC) one of the best bargains around. Still, no one was prepared for the sound quality achieved with Analogue Productions' collaboration with Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray. Each record in this series was mastered from the original master tapes, cut at 45rpm over 2 discs. Analogue Productions became THE premium jazz reissue company at the time as a result of this series. This particular reissue series was very costly to produce and costly to purchase for audiophiles. Still, it was worth it to get that stunningly close to the sound of the master tapes, without the limitations typically used for releases designed for the masses. For the Fantasy Records series, Analogue Productions planned a release of a total of 100 classic jazz albums, 25 at a time. Only 1000 of each album were pressed. Many consider Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray to arguably be the best audiophile mastering team of all-time, and superb care was taken in producing each of these albums, including plating and pressing at RTI. As a result, many also consider this release of Sunday At The Village Vanguard to be the best that was ever produced. As I also own the Alto release of this album (cut at 33), I can tell you that this version is far superior, with instruments sounding more natural, with more air and space around them. Moreover, the recording exhibits far greater dynamics. And there is the ease of presentation that comes with cutting at 45rpm. It really is rare to see one of these come up for sale, with only 1000 of them in existence around the world. Because of the rarity, these have also become collectible, and their price in the marketplace has risen since their introduction over a decade ago. I will ship anywhere in the world, but buyer will pay shipping and insurance costs using the Global Shipping Program. You shouldn't need a return with this, but in the event you feel that I somehow haven't represented the record well, I'll accept a return. Buyer will pay return shipping cost. Please contact me if you have any questions.
