Arthur Blythe The Grip (India Navigation IN 1029) stereo Blythe (as) with Ahmed Abdullah (tpt); Bob Stewart (tu); Abdul Wadud (cello); Steve Reid (d); and Muhamad Abdullah (perc). Recorded live at The Brook, New York City, on 26 february 1977. This Issue: On front, same artist's photograph and same large font for artist's name as on other 1977 pressings of IN 1029. Record labels here are silver with Hokusai-like waves below plain capital letters, "INDIA NAVIGATION". Artist's name and album title are below center hole. Label runout: Side 1: [etched] IN-1029-ASide 2: [etched] IN-1029-B Condition of Record: VG++ to NM. No marks or blemishes of any kind on either side of the playing surface. A few very small scratches on paper label near the center hole on both sides, but spindle hole itself is hardly affected. Record was played probably three times in the seventies but not since. It has been carefully stored, always upright and out of the sun. Album front cover: no marks, a bit of ringwear near top. Photo and text are fine. Back cover: All photos and text fine; barely noticeable light-blue smearing on left side, toward album open end. Spine fine, tiny amount of wear at top corner. Open end, back bottom corner bumped, a tiny bit of the paper has peeled (but not off; see: photo). Horizontal edge, top, fine; bottom, shelfwear for half of its length. I'm the original owner of the record. I'm an independent seller divesting his own record collection. I'm not selling from a store or warehouse, with multiple copies of titles, or on behalf of a professional collector. Shipping: Ebay requires seller to indicate shipping methods and other particulars, then automatically inserts the cost at the top of the listing. Buyer will pay amount as determined by destination, by shipping method he chooses, and by required insurance (see: below); I don't gouge the price to make more profit. (USPS Media Mail is cheapest; I will provide prices for US Priority, or for FedEx or UPS ground, if requested.) Insurance is mandatory on shipments to US addresses: The final price of the item determines the amount of insurance required. Please wait till I inform you of your total cost prior to submitting payment. It and not Ebay's stated cost is the amount to be paid. **For winners outside US**: USPS shipping options are International Priority and International Express. Both methods include insurance but only Express provides a return receipt. (Check USPS's website for shipping prices.) If you want a private-company shipper, I will quote you the cost at end of auction. First-Class-Package service, which doesn't include insurance, is an option; the shipping cost will be lower, but if your item doesn't arrive you have no recourse. The risk is yours. Packing: The LP will be carefully placed in a standard, cardboard LP box. Please indicate any special instructions. Payment: I accept Paypal. I also accept cash in cases of in-person deliveries. Returns: Returns will be accepted in cases of error in description. I am the author of Wail: The Life of Bud Powell. To read about his extraordinary life, go to BudPowellBio. I offer a discount on the book to winning bidders. N A record known to have never been played. A CD that has never been removed from its jewel case. NM A record or CD known or assumed to have been played. LP may have a surface fingerprint smudge or other minor blemish; it may have slight spindle wear. CD might have been played, but it and its booklet, and its case (or box), show little if any wear. Otherwise, item appears same as N in all respects. VG++ More handling marks than on NM but should play like new.VG+ Some wear may affect play or there may be a few minor blemishes. VG More than a few blemishes; may have a scratch. If so, will be described in detail.
