In this auction are TWO ORIGINAL BEATLES 45 RPM 7-INCH RECORDS ISSUED BY MGM IN 1964. The 4 songs on these 2 singles were taken from the MGM Records LP “THE BEATLES WITH TONY SHERIDAN AND GUESTS” by The Beatles, Tony Sheridan, and The Titans that was issued February 3, 1964 at the beginning of “the British Invasion” when every U.S. record label was scrambling to find, gain the rights to, and release any and every recording made by The Fab Four so as to profit on The Beatles who were taking America by storm. Here are the details: RECORD #1: “WHY” b/w “CRY FOR A SHADOW” by The Beatles With Tony Sheridan This is MGM Records K13227. This record was issued March 27, 1964. The publishing credit for the A-Side (“WHY”) is printed “Al Gallico Music”. It is notable that “CRY FOR A SHADOW” was a George Harrison and John Lennon composition. The VINYL is in VG to VG- CONDITION with numerous very light/slight surface hairlines/scuffs (none of them “feel-able”). The vinyl has lots of gloss. This MGM-issued record has become one of the tougher to find Beatles singles these days. It is definitely the tougher of the two MGM-issued Beatles singles to find. The red picture sleeve that was issued with this record is not included and has become harder to find than the vinyl. This record comes in an MGM Records stock sleeve that I believe is the correct sleeve for this record if not in the red picture sleeve. RECORD #2: “MY BONNIE” b/w “THE SAINTS (When The Saints Go Marching In)” by The Beatles With Tony Sheridan This is MGM Records K13213. This record was issued January 27, 1964. The VINYL is an East Coast Pressing because the labels do not have a reference to the MGM album. Both the A-side and the B-side have he publishing credit “P.D.” (for Public Domain) printed. The VINYL is in VG CONDITION with a number of very light/slight surface hairlines/scuffs (none of them “feel-able”). The green picture sleeve that was issued with this record is not included and has become a tough sleeve to find. This record comes in an MGM Records stock sleeve that I believe is the correct sleeve for this record if not in the green picture sleeve. A NICE PAIR of MGM-ISSUED 1964 BEATLES SINGLES for someone’s Beatles vinyl collection!
