Description Rare Mono 7-inch vinyl of the BILLY FURY & THE GAMBLERS EP by BILLY FURY & THE GAMBLERS, signed on the back by Billy Fury himself! For tracklisting, see photos. The back-story to this rare item… My Mum won this single in a fan-club competition from ‘Fury Monthly’ in 1966. However, she had already bought a copy of the EP, so this has only been played a couple of times in its life-span. Since then, it has been stored in the original card-backed envelope which it was sent in, which is included here for provenance purposes and as an extra souvenir. Mum met Billy Fury in person outside a club in Manchester shortly after, and he signed the back cover in blue biro: “Love to Anne from Billy Fury”. This has been detailed in a letter of provenance included here. This single has been very looked after over the years, and is only really being sold now as my parents are getting rid of some of their rare records! Catalogue number: DFE 8641 (Decca) From a personal collection in a smoke/pet-free home. Please see photos for full details of condition, as these are scans of the actual item! (The colours are therefore more vivid in real life than shown on here). I tend to grade fairly conservatively for collectable items, so I'm going to say grading is as follows - Record: Excellent (Ex) : no crackles or surface noise. My Mum’s maiden name, Anne Alty, has however been written in blue pen on each side of the centre sticker (brilliant work from a then-teenager…) Sleeve: Excellent (Ex) : minor surface creasing/cracking to the plastic coating of the front cover on the right-hand side. Small bump to the bottom-left corner of the back corner, with another small crease just next to it. There are also three blue lines on the top of the back sleeve just beneath the lip, where some additional penmanship from my Mum has subsequently been removed. Since this is highly collectable, I have tried to list all defects, no matter how minor - overall though, I suspect this is in about as good condition as could be imagined for a record of its age!
