DAVID BOWIE - 'HUNKY DORY' This timeless album, regarded as his most critically acclaimed & best loved work, continues to cast its spell over every new generation since its original release in December 1971. Most recently in January this year, it was voted by listeners of BBC Radio 6 Music listeners as their favourite David Bowie album of all time. Here then is a rare opportunity to acquire the ultimate collectors copy – a signed UK 1st pressing. The disc is a 1971 UK 1st pressing on the shiny RCA Victor label: SF 8244 Both labels have 'Chrysalis Music Ltd./Titanic Music' publishing credits. Matrix numbers: APRS 5947 3T & APRS 5948 3T 'Bobil' & 'Rasputin' are hand-etched into each respective run-out. Vinyl weight: 135g Housed in the earliest type 'Robert Stace' printed cover, front laminated and without the 'Gem' or 'Mainman' credit on the rear panel. Complete with its original lyric printed insert & die-cut inner-sleeve. The cover is SIGNED on the rear panel by David Bowie & guitarist Mick Ronson. The inscriptions in blue ballpoint pen reads: 'Love to Jane, Bowie' & 'Jane Your Wonderful, Mick Ronson xxxxxx' We fully guarantee the authenticity of these signatures and provide a moneyback guarantee if you are not 100% satisfied. CONDITION Disc Labels: EXCELLENT + Both are bright & unworn with a few tiny spots on the side 2 label, but minimal wear to the inside edges of each centre hole. Visual: VERY GOOD + This treasured disc has received a moderate amount of careful play and both playing surfaces retain an excellent deep-gloss shine and bear no significant surface marks or wear in strong daylight. Closer examination directly beneath halogen light reveals some harmless wispy paper-type hairlines and a couple of tiny cloudy spots in the side 2 run-out, but nothing we would call a scratch. Both sides of this historic 1st pressing lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing. Sound Quality: EXCELLENT All tracks on this wonderful sounding pressing play superbly and are free from any groove/playwear distortion or any other major issues. Some light vinyl background is audible between tracks on during some quieter passages, but there are no clicks, pops or any other such distractions. It's really hard to put into words how good this early pressing sounds compared to later vinyl pressings or indeed any other format. Cover: EXCELLENT This cherished artifact must be one of the best & earliest signed examples in existence. The high-gloss front panel laminate is unrubbed & bears only a very faint disc impression at its upper and lower edges. The only significant signs of wear here are a handful of faint 'thumbnail' wrinkles towards the opening edge... ...and a similar amount of spine wrinkles. The all-important rear panel is, apart from a smudge of blue ink beside the side 2 track-listing, clean & totally unmarked. There is also a 5mm tear to the rear opening edge at the same level as the abovementioned blemish. Both signatures are unhurried and as bold as the day they were signed. Both seams are smooth & unstressed and the spine is unworn & fully worded. Lyric insert: VERY GOOD + This has folds both horizontally & vertically but is otherwise clean & undamaged. Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT + Don't miss out on this rare opportunity to own one of rock's finest albums signed by one of it's greatest stars.
