IS FIVE PIECE LIVE” (stamped) STERLING LH “Hotel California” was released on December 8, 1976. Elektra Records changed the catalog number from 7E-1084 to 6E-103 around the summer of 1977. As such, this record could only be made before the change. Therefore, this is a true first press album of “Hotel California”. (Source: bsnpubs) The Importance of First Pressing or Promotional Copy LP Discs made with the first stamping disc created from the master disc are called first pressings; this usually includes Promotional Copy discs. These discs have the best possible audio fidelity. When the first stamping disc is considered worn out a second disc is made from the master. Discs made from this are second pressings, and so it goes. The more discs created from the master the more the master is worn leading to a sonic deterioration. There is some very light ring wear along the top front and on upper rear sleeve cover and a couple of small creases in the lower left corner. Includes original custom inner sleeve and three- panel 11” x 33” B & W poster insert of the Eagles. The vinyl is EX, the labels, which are a custom picture label of a blue/green Hotel California logo with a yellow background, have no writing or spindle marks and there are only a couple of very light paper scuff marks visible on the vinyl. This record comes from my personal collection and was purchased new. The record had very light play before I recording it to a reel-to-reel tape. I have not had a turntable since the early 80’s so the record has been boxed and stored vertically in my closet ever since. The record has never been cleaned and I don’t have access to a cleaning machine or turntable now. As there are many cleaning methods shown on the internet (both good and bad) I’ll leave any cleaning to the buyer.
