Description 1968 RCA Records LPM-3989, Elvis Presley- "Speedway" soundtrack lp, mono version. U.S. Pressing. Very rare, hard-to-find album. The cover conservatively grades g+ with a seam split along most of the spine and a 3" top center seam split. The bottom seam is strong with a small (approximately 1") split near the spine and some hard wear near the opening. Because the top and bottom seams are still fairly strong the cover holds the lp securely. The cover also has some rubbing and light discoloration along the top and bottom seams and some damage at the lower right back cover. I've supplied pictures of the cover for you to surmise the condition yourself. The record retains some of its original gloss but has a lot of light scuffs and scratches across both sides. Although none of these seem deep enough to feel with a fingertip (with the exception of the first track on side two), because there are so many I give the record a visual grade of g+. I listened to the album and give it a play grade of vg to vg+. There is some surface noise, mostly noticable between songs and during the quieter musical sections, but it is not overpowering. It is an enjoyable listen and, needless to say, hearing these songs is their mono versions is awesome! The biggest problem the album has audibly is the first track on side two, the Nancy Sinatra cut "Your Groovy Self." This particular track has some occasional loud hissing and some hard pops- it skipped on some of my turntables until I cleaned it and forced the needle through the skips til it played through without skipping. Please be aware that this song has some issues- and although it plays through on three of my turntables without skipping- if your tonearm is sensitive it may skip on yours. As I stated, the rest of the songs play nicely in the vg to vg+ range. As always, there are no reserves on my listings. This album will be shipped by priority mail and include insurance.
