Title: GIL MELLE Patterns In Jazz Label: Blue Note 1517 (Earliest known Deep groove pressing with flat edge at run-in, Lexington Ave address on both sides, 'ear' mark and RVG etched on both sides This is the true Authentic Deep Groove VERY FIRST FLAT EDGE PRESSING issued in 1956. RUDY VAN GELDER Engineering. "RVG" and the Ear symbol are etched in deadwax..both sides. Also identified on back cover "Recording by RUDY VAN GELDER". Blue & White labels with "767 LEXINGTON AVE, N.Y.C." address on both sides; Thick inflexible original vinyl. This rare album features GIL MELLE-baritone sax EDDIE BERT-trombone, JOE CINDERELLA-guitar, and ED THIGPEN-drums and the great OSCAR PETTIFORD on bass. Special Note: This album was archived for many years at THE KENT MEMORIAL JAZZ LIBRARY in Connecticut, U.S.Note: The Library's own sticker with its library cataloguing bar code and Library name can be seen in the upper rt hand corner of front cover. Light Library stamper is also present on the middle of each label near spindle hole. Record Condition: side one: VG side two: Strong VG+ Cover Condition: VG+ no seam splits, no ringwear, barely any edgewear, scrape mark on left side front cover, small scrape bottom back cover and crease line towards left side. Play tested: Surface crackle present. No skips, no major pops. Visual Grading Scale for Discs: We have 19 years experience grading and selling records. MINT: Usually reserved for sealed LPs or unplayed stock. NM (Near Mint) : Like new, should have no audible or visual imperfections EX or VG++ (Excellent): Visual imperfections like surface scuffs from the inner sleeve or light hairline scratches will be present; may present surface crackle. VG+ (Very Good Plus) : Light marks (hairlines, scuffs) will be present. Average condition, used but not abused; should play fairly well with surface crackle present VG (Very Good) : Marks, light scratches may all be present. Surface noise may be present but should not be distracting or overpower the music. No skips or major pops...expect surface crackle. VG- (Very Good Minus) : Significant marking, scratches, groove wear will be present, as will crackle and pops. Will play through but expect it to have some pronounced surface noise G (Good) : Heavy wear, dull surface, as many scratches as grooves, very noisy.
