Starting in 1926, Nichols and his cohorts created whole new rules for small-group ensemble jazz. His bands, recording under a blizzard of names, set the pace for the remainder of the '20s. On the flip, we have WILLIE CREAGER AND HIS ORCHESTRA, dispensing a peppy Irving Berlin tune, "I'M ON MY WAY HOME." Irving Kaufman warbles the refrain as only Irving could.
