Description This auction features a WIRL (West Indies Records) RARE Transparent GREEN VINYL LP Title: I'LL REMEMBER JAMAICA I am not an expert on vinyl so I can't give a grading to the record. The album cover does come with inside booklet that is in fairly good condition. The contents are as follows (printed on back of cover) Side One: "YELLOW BIRD" This originally Haitian tune is performed with delicate flute obligato featuring Lloyd Mason "JOHN TOM" Featuring the roistering Mento Beat of an old fashioned Jamaican humour tune, this song stayed six weeks at the head of the island's hit parade. Vocalist is Derrick Harriott. "LAND OF SEA AND SUN" Another beautiful styling of an original Jamaican tune, featuring Lloyd Mason "HARD TIMES" Many Jamaican tunes, like this one, lightheartedly spoof the difficult times sometimes faced by the island's peasants. Derrick Harriott vocalist. "RIVER BEEN COME DOWN" Originally a work song, as the repetitious patter of its lyrics reveal, this song is performed by Totlyn Jackson. Side Two: "ISLAND IN THE SUN" A danceable version of a well known song is given the unmistakable Jamaican "Mento" beat. "ELEPHANT WALK" This is one elephant who will never be the same. The American pop standard is given the Ska treatment by Roland Alphonso. "SOLAS MARKET" One of Jamaica's most durable folk mento tunes is given an up tempo treatment in typical Jamaican fashion. "YELLOW DUCK" This is Ska "LIMBO" No visitor ever forgets the thrill of dancing limbo under the Jamaican stars. Note that the label on the vinyl on side two is a bit blurry and cut off center.
