Description Up for auction is the 12" single for Sixteen Saltines/Love Is Blindness by Jack White. This pressing is the super-limited ultra-rare LIQUID FILLED RECORD that also features a PLAYABLE ETCHING! This is a one-of-a-kind collector's item pressed out of 400 and sold EXCLUSIVELY by Third Man Records for Record Store Day 2012. This is the first record of its kind to be made available for sale, as Third Man's website states: "As if that weren’t enough, Third Man took the playable etching one step further and used the same parts to make a limited-edition version of the “Saltines” 12-inch single. Not only is the etching playable, but the record itself is pressed on clear vinyl and filled with psychedelic blue liquid. While the soundtrack for the 1978 film The Black Hole was initially prototyped as a liquid-filled disc, problems with leakage prevented it from ever being released. The liquid-filled “Saltines” is the first-ever disc of its kind to be made available to the public." Naturally, grading this particular item is difficult. This is what we know about the record: - It has never been played. - The surface of the record itself has NO visible wear. - There is a small leak somewhere, which was not uncommon for this particular item. Many people made claim to the fact that the liquid was leaking into the labels. This is to be expected for a pressing as unconventional as this. Attached are images that detail this particular issue. - Because of the aforementioned leak, there is some liquid in the clear plastic sleeve. Not much, but enough to be noticed. - There is liquid in the outermost grooves, which is probably due to a small split in the interior of the record. This has not bled through onto the surface and, thus, should not affect play. - Label has "Sixteen Saltines" spelled as "Sixteen Salteens". If we had to guess, we'd say that the grading would be as follows: Interior of record: G+ due to leakage Surface of record: VG- taking into account that there is a small leak, but the vinyl has never been played. Sleeve: VG due to the effects of the leak Overall: G+ , just to play it safe. IMPORTANT: As the sticker on the sleeve states, one should play this record at their own risk.
