JAGJIT & CHITRA SINGH, A SOUND AFFAIR, ORIG 1985 INDIAN HMV LP, GHAZALS, URDU Jagjit and Chitra Singh – A Sound Affair Jagjit Singh, born Jagmohan Singh Dhiman (8 February 1941 - 10 October 2011), popularly known as "The Ghazal King" or "King of Ghazals", was an Indian composer, singer and musician. He composed and sang in numerous languages and is credited for the revival and popularity of ghazal, an Indian classical art form. Chitra Singh (born Shome) is a Bengali Indian ghazal singer. She with her husband Jagjit Singh pulled the ghazal genre out of the drawing room of the elite and brought it to the masses. Respectfully known as the "king and queen of the Ghazal world," the husband and wife duo created some of the most successful Indian music of the 1970s and '80s. Side One: Aye Khuda Ret Ke Sehra Ko Samandar Karde; Ye To Nahin Ke Gham Nahin; Kabhi Ghuncha Kabhi Shola; Socha Nahin Achha Bura. Side Two: Kabhi To Khul Ke Baras; Tere Khat (Nazm); Aankh Se Aankh Mila; Manzilna De Charagh Na De. The album is on HMV Records, PSLP 1364. Matrix side one: 36 587 2YJW 850-1 (stamped). Matrix side two: 36 588 2YJW 851-1 (stamped). Released in 1975. Indian pressing. Stereo. See photos below for more info. Condition: (as Record Collector’s grading system) Vinyl side 1: very good (has a few mark and plays with the odd light click here and there but certainly nothing that spoils your enjoyment of the music, plays with no jumps or sticks and minimal crackle). Vinyl side 2: very good (has a few mark and plays with the odd light click here and there but certainly nothing that spoils your enjoyment of the music, plays with no jumps or sticks and minimal crackle, sticker on label). Cover (fully laminated): very good (a few small creases mainly aroud the edes, barcode sticker on front, a few light indent marks). I have tried to give my honest opinion as to the condition. I will give a complete refund to the buyer if they are not happy with the record. Any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Check out the other records that I am selling at the moment by clicking on 'view seller's other items'. RECORD COLLECTOR GRADING SYSTEM: MINT: I very rarely use the mint grade. Only records that are still sealed or records that even under the strongest of lights are completely unmarked. Also covers that are unmarked/uncreased in any way and still look brand new. EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is no lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing. VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable. GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc. FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced. POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing. BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
