JIMI HENDRIX ARE YOU EXPERIENCED UK 1ST PRESS MONO TRACK 612 001 A1/B1.My listening equipment is a highly revealing Yamaha PF-800 turntable (easily equal to an LP12), pre/power amps and B&W Matrix Reference speakers. Before listing I always clean LPs on a vacuum record cleaning machine and I always determine audio quality by playing the LP not just by visual inspection. For this LP I have used an Ortofon OM10 MM cartridge.Side one has a gentle undulation which doesn’t upset the stylus at all. There is minor background noise to run-in groove, between tracks and occasional quiet parts plus some soft ticks. Some clicks to the intros of “Can you see me” and “Love or confusion”. No undulation to side two which plays to same overall standard as side one. There are some clicks to “Remember” and to the intro of “Are you experienced”. Even so the audio is clear with no distortion or sizzle and, in spite of its listed faults, can be listened to with enjoyment. Cosmetically the vinyl has some light marks but nothing feelable and it still looks nice and bright. As you can see from the photos, the front laminated single slip cover isn't quite so good. the laminate has creases - particularly at the opening edge. It also has a one-inch tear (see close-up photo) which I have repaired from the inside (see close-up phote) purely to stop it worsening. Text to the spine has rubbed off entirely (see photo) which is very common with this particular cover. The spine also has a split along the centre. The unlaminated black & white back cover is actually not bad. So, if you want perfection, look elsewhere. But if you simply want to own a first pressing of a legendary debut album then this could be ideal for you. The record will be well packaged for safe transit - I used to sell a lot of records on ebay so I have a good packaging procedure.
