Although ebay are allowing counterfeit records to flourish, they insist sellers clearly state the authenticity of officially sanctioned, licensed live albums, I even had to do that recently for Jimi's "Live At Winterland", issued on the red & black Polydor label! THIS FIVE ALBUM BOX SET WAS FULLY LICENSED TO 'CASTLE COMMUNICATIONS Ltd.' WHO PAID TO RELEASE "Live & Unreleased ~ The Radio Show" OFFICIALLY, IN 1989. CLEARLY PRINTED ON THE BOX WITH THE CREDITS & COPYRIGHT'S ON THE BOTTOM RIM, LEFT OF CENTRE IS: 'Licensed From 'Are You Experienced Ltd.' 'This Compilation (P) Castle Communications Plc.' 'This Compilation (C) Castle Communications Plc.' JIMI HENDRIX: "Live & Unreleased ~ The Radio Show" UK FIVE LP VINYL BOX SET, WITH A POSTER. ULTRA RARE OFFICIAL RELEASE, FIRST AND ONLY VINYL PRESSING MADE, RELEASED 20th NOVEMBER, 1989. CASTLE COMMUNICATIONS: HBLP 100 CATALOGUE NUMBER* & MAITRIX** FOR ALL FIVE RECORDS: RECORD 1: *HBLP 100 - 1A. **HBLP 100 - 1 A / HBLP 100 - 1 B RECORD 2: *HBLP 100 - 2A. **HBLP 100 - 1 A / HBLP 100 - 1 B RECORD 3: *HBLP 100 - 3A. **HBLP 100 - 1 A / HBLP 100 - 1 B RECORD 4: *HBLP 100 - 4A. **HBLP 100 - 1 A / HBLP 100 - 1 B RECORD 5: *HBLP 100 - 5A. **HBLP 100 - 1 A / HBLP 100 - 1 B THE LABELS HAVE INDIVIDUAL PASTEL COLOURS ON BOTH SIDES: RECORD 1: Yellow RECORD 2: Green RECORD 3: Blue RECORD 4: Pink RECORD 5: Salmon Pink WITH A SUPERB COLOUR POSTER, UNFOLDED MEASURING 21" x 17", FEATURING THE PICTURE OF JIMI'S SHADOW ON THE MARSHALL AMPS USED AS PART OF THE BOX LID'S ARTWORK. IN 'NEVER LEFT THE BOX' MINT CONDITION, ALL FIVE MATCHING PLAIN WHITE, DIE-CUT CENTRE INNER SLEEVES ARE IN UNUSED, MINT/MINT- CONDITION. They were printed in England and have the actual dates they made on the front bottom right corners; 7/89 = July, 1989 (four have this date) 5/89 = May, 1989 (one has this date) ALL THE PRINTED ITEMS AND THE THE RECORDS ARE STATED ON THE BOX TRAY AS BEING, "Made In England." THE BOX IS CONSTRUCTED FROM HEAVY DUTY CARDBOARD, THIS HAS A REMOVABLE LID FROM THE BOTTOM TRAY. THE TRAY'S BOTTOM HAS ALL 39 TRACKS' COMPREHENSIVE DETAILS, PLUS A SIMILAR PICTURE OF JIMI HENDRIX TO THE ONE THAT CREATED THE SHADOW ON THE AMPS. A BACK VIEW ON STAGE, NOWHERE ON THIS BOX OR THE POSTER IS THERE A FRONT PICTURE, I ASSUME A COMMENDABLE, DELIBERATE PLOY TO CONCENTRATE ON JIMI'S MUSIC, NOT HIS IMAGE, THE 'SHADOW PICTURE' IS ONE OF THE MOST ORIGINAL IDEAS EVER TO APPEAR FOR THE ARTWORK & POSTER FOR ANY HENDRIX ALBUM SINCE "Axis Bold as Love" IN 1967. THE BOX AND LID ARE THE ORIGINAL UNYELLOWED/ UNSTAINED PURE WHITE INSIDE, THE OUTSIDE IS UNSCUFFED ON THE TOP AND MOST TELLING OF ALL, ON THE TRAY'S BOTTOM WHERE THE ESSENTIAL TEXT AND TRACK INFO WAS PRINTED. NOT AN IDEAL POSITION FOR ANY BOX SETS THAT AFFECT CASSETTES, CD'S OR VINYL BUT THIS IS 100% PERFECT AND SPEAKS OF VERY CARING STORAGE OVER THE LAST 25 YEARS. THERE ARE NO SPLITS OR TEARS ON ALL EIGHT OF THE CORNERS, A SUPERBLY STRONG LID AND TRAY WITH ONLY THE MEREST BRUSHING TO THE OUTSIDE EDGES AND THE OUTSIDE IN GENERAL. I FELT OBLIGED TO WRITE THAT, THERE IS NOTHING HERE THAT WAS NOT PART OF FACTORY HANDLING FOR PACKAGING AND DISTRIBUTION TO RECORD SHOPS. THE TITLES ARE PRINTED IN WHITE ON TWO OF THE LID'S EDGES AND ONCE AGAIN, THEY ARE TOTALLY UNWORN. WITH ONLY THE SLIGHTEST OF SLIGHT STORAGE SIGNS, THE GRADING HAS TO BE NEAR MINT CONDITION. THE IMMMACULATE LABELS DO NOT HAVE ANY SPINDLE ALIGNMENT TRACES, ALL TEN SIDES ARE UNPLAYED, WITHOUT ANY MARKS OR PLAYING TRACES THE GRADING OF ALL FIVE RECORDS IS, MINT CONDITION. All The Thirty Nine Tracks Were Recorded Between 1966 /1970, I Have Added The Basic Details From The Box Tray. SIDE 1 "I Don't Live Today" (Live, Previously Unreleased, L. A. This massively rare box set that has never been re-issued and I do not believe it ever will be now, when issued in 1989, Jimi Hendrix was certainly not as heavily collected as he is today in Britain. We were trading at the UK record fairs during this period of the late 80's and although I kept completely full Hendrix LP and singles sections, they were sold to the converted and mostly to those replacing their worn out originals. The 1980's almost swept aside the 1960's greats from new generations and even the Beatles 1980's compilations struggled to sell, the psychedelic music or pure blues of Hendrix was waiting to be re-discovered. Polydor put together the superb "The Singles" double album with the 'puppet cover' and released it in February, 1983, every 'A'&'B' Side Jimi ever made should have been enticing enough but it struggled to reach a lowly No.77. Then nothing until the last year of the decade in 1989 when another double album "Radio 1" was airing the BBC sessions for the first time, but that could only make a brief appearance at No.30 and so Castle resorted to Limited Editions, with colour vinyl and a poster to try and re-ignite interest, this was around the Spring of 1989. Later in the year, Castle were by now committed to releasing this, "Live & Unreleased ~ The Radio Show," and by then it was obvious the legend of Jimi Hendrix had become a 'sleeping giant.' They had to release this on three fronts, cassettes, CD's and of course vinyl, normally by then the CD Box Sets were made in large numbers with cassettes and vinyl being run down to just token gestures. However, in this case Castle knew the writing was on the wall for Jimi's rarest music ever offered officially, all three formats were made in equally tiny amounts. I know because in 1989 I tried my very best to pick up all three ways of getting to hear this amazing box set on behalf of my regular customers, rare items like those were as tough to get my hands on in November, 1989 as they are today. Ironically I had no competition to buy and sell Jimi's 1967 to 1970 Track original's, like now, I only did so when in top condition, now everyone is a record seller and target those same albums, but without any care if the sound quality fails to do Jimi's extraordinary music the fullest justice. This is an absolutely stunning condition complete "Live & Unreleased ~ The Radio Show," with a fantastic colour poster in the same Mint Condition as the five records. I have described the condition's of all items in my headings so I will instead fill in the little known background to the release of the Box Set, shame the release did not fall in the mid-1990's. That was when the Jimi Hendrix legend once again exploded into the technicolour psychedelic splendour I first experienced in late 1966, but music has a way of re-asserting itself when the time is right, I saw the same happen to Led Zeppelin around the same period. "Live & Unreleased ~ The Radio Show" was only released by Castle Communications, following a great American idea to create a series of radio shows to include commentaries about the rarest and previously unheard material. 'Westwood One' also made a fantastic job of John Lennon's unreleased demo's, live recordings and studio out-takes for their "Lost Lennon Tapes" series. The Jimi Hendrix material was originally broadcast as a six hour long radio show in the USA on the 2nd & 3rd September, 1988, these five LP's include the original radio commentary in the same way the "Lost Lennon Tapes" series did. The following year Castle released their version in the three formats I mentioned before, all three are still as elusive now! With so many of the tracks previously unreleased on this five LP box set, I don't know quite where to begin, you have "Like A Rolling Stone" from 'The Generation Club' in 1968 as a great example of a live track not from a stadium concert. The studio material is remarkable, for example, "Mister Bad Luck" was an early version of "Look Over Yonder," recorded during the 1967 sessions for Jimi's debut album,"Are You Experienced." In a way I am sorry to not be describing these tracks, but after typing out all the details for the individual titles,I have hardly neglected my duties, but Hendrix rarities like this are an all consuming collecting field, so I would love to take even further, I had better sign off before I change my mind! {Roy} R & M RECORDS. My lifetime's love of music and records began at a very young age, the arrival of the Beatles and the 1960's decade in general had a very profound effect. It was only natural to bring all my first hand experience of collecting vinyl into becoming a professional record seller. Over twenty years ago now we entered into the wonderful atmosphere of record fairs with the highest possible standards set. When the Internet became the world's new market place for vinyl, in 2001 it was time to join ebay. Those standards were rigidly adhered to as they will always continue to be, the basics of honesty and integrity were very much part of the era the music I love originated in, so here is our friendly and very efficient service we are proud to provide; EVERY RECORD IS FULLY PLAYED AND COMES WITH A 'NO ARGUMENT' MONEY BACK GUARANTEE. I USE GOOD OLD COMMON SENSE AS WELL AS A GLOBALLY ACCEPTED GRADING TERMINOLOGY FROM THE U.K. "RECORD COLLECTOR PRICE GUIDE" BOOK. THERE IT CLEARLY STATES "Sound Quality" AFFECTS EVERY GRADING LEVEL AND THAT IS THE ONE AND ONLY POSSIBLE WAY TO ACCURATELY GRADE RECORDS. i.e. COMBINING A STRICT VISUAL INSPECTION WITH VERY CLOSELY LISTENING TO EVERY SECOND, UNLESS PERHAPS IN THE CASE OF GENUINELY UNPLAYED VINYL. EVEN THEN WE STILL TAKE FULL RESPONSIBITY FOR A RECORD WHEN A CUSTOMER RECEIVES EITHER A SEALED OR AN UNPLAYED RECORD. MY DESCRIPTIONS WILL ALWAYS BE 100% HONEST AND TOTALLY ACCURATE ON ALL GRADINGS FROM 'V.G.' ( VERY GOOD), TO THE ULTIMATE 'MINT' CONDITION. ANY QUESTIONS ON OUR ITEMS ARE WELCOMED AND WILL BE PROMPTLY REPLIED TO. WE ARE FULLY EXPERIENCED AT SHIPPING WORLDWIDE AND NO EFFORT IS SPARED TO PROTECT RECORDS AND COVERS ETC. WE WELCOME BIDDERS FROM ANY COUNTRY IN THE WORLD. ALL RECORDS ARE REMOVED FROM THEIR SLEEVES AND PLACED INTO NEW PROTECTIVE CARD SLEEVES AND THEN PLACED INTO NEW, HEAVYWEIGHT PLASTIC OUTER SLEEVES. THE GREATEST ATTENTION IS PAID TO MAKING THE PACKAGING EXTREMELY STRONG & SECURE. EVERY POSSIBLE EFFORT IS MADE TO ENSURE A SAFE DELIVERY AND WE ONLY USE THE VERY BEST QUALITY PACKAGING MATERIALS, THE COST OF THE ITEM IS IMMATERIAL, EVERY RECORD IS TREATED EXACTLY THE SAME. WE DO NOT TREAT POSTAGE AS A MONEY MAKING PROJECT, POSTAGE IS LESS THAN COST, USING ONLY PROFESSIONALLY PACKED BOXES WITH SUBSTANTIAL PROTECTIVE PACKAGING THAT DOES WEIGH A LITTLE EXTRA. UNDER PAYPAL & EBAY'S GUIDELINES, ALL RECORDS WILL BE SENT VIA A FULLY INSURED TRACKABLE SERVICE. We have kept all our charges at the same level for years now, but due to the Post Office's new price increases, regretfully we will have to increase the cost of LP's, however, singles will remain unchanged. Ebay were aware of that happening and have increased their minimum postal cost for LP's to £7.00, that figure has been enforced by the UK Post Office and it will become our UK First Class, Recorded Delivery cost for albums up to the value of £46. For LP's valued above £46, the cost will be £9, we are unhappy about either increase but our high standard of packaging has meant in 12 years of ebay trading, there has not been one record damaged, we are determined to maintain that in the present and future. IN THE UK RECORDS UP TO THE VALUE OF £46 WILL BE SENT RECORDED DELIVERY, OVER £46 WILL BE SENT SPECIAL DELIVERY. FOR THE REST OF THE WORLD ALL RECORDS WILL BE SENT VIA 'INTERNATIONAL SIGNED FOR.' POSTAGE COST FOR LP's UK: UP TO VALUE OF £46, FIRST CLASS RECORDED DELIVERY £7.00 UK: OVER VALUE OF £46, FULLY INSURED SPECIAL DELIVERY £9.00 EUROPE: FULLY INSURED VIA INTERNATIONAL SIGNED FOR £15.00 USA,JAPAN & REST OF THE WORLD FULLY INSURED VIA INTERNATIONAL SIGNED FOR £20.00 POSTAGE COST FOR EP's & 7" UK: UP TO THE VALUE OF £46 FIRST CLASS RECORDED DELIVERY £3.00 UK: OVER THE VALUE OF £46 FULLY INSURED SPECIAL DELIVERY £6.00 EUROPE: AIR MAIL VIA INTERNATIONAL SIGNED FOR £10.00 USA, JAPAN ETC.
