Nothing wrong with that - people do it all the time - but for now I will run nothing but NEW stuff! Hope you appreciate 'em!] HERES ONE OF the legendary records from December, 1932 by BENNIE MOTEN'S KANSAS CITY ORCHESTRA: the Count Basie - Eddie Durham original "LAFAYETTE," and Hoagy Carmichael's brand-new song, "NEW ORLEANS," sung here by Jimmy Rushing. Enough has been written about this fabulous record (see Gunther Schuller's "The Swing Era" for the full discussion) to make any further comments from me unnecessary, but if you want to create a sensation with your friends, and also disturb the neighbors, you couldn't do much better than "Lafayette." This original 1932 "Scroll" Victor is in lovely E- condition. It has a repaired hair crack from rim to label, EXPERTLY REPAIRED by the legendary Jim Cooprider. This crack mostly doesn't sound at all, especially under the well-modulated recording. *****These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing! My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value. I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will! Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.” I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.
