PINK FLOYD:"Dark Side Of The Moon" UK TOUR PROGRAMME FOR NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER, 1974. THE OUTSIDE COVER HAS COLOUR 'ALIEN' COMIC STYLE ARTWORK. THE INSIDE HAS 14 PAGES OF STIRRING COMIC ADVENTURES OF THE BAND, LIFELINES, A QUIZ ETC. AND ADVANCE ROGER WATERS LYRICS FOR; "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" & "Raving And Drooling"     Sad to say, but anything rare becomes the target of crooks who make counterfeit copies with one intention only, to con and   deceive collectors.   This is the most desirable and unique Pink Floyd Tour programme of them all and fakes now exist, any ebay seller handling counterfeit copies should be ashamed of themselves, but greed soon replaces a conscience and morals.  Please rest assured I would never offer anything that was not 100% authentic, this happens to be a 1974 original in outstanding condition. The pathetic fakes will not have the slightest traits of being 40 years of age, I will describe this in detail, although the actual newspaper they were printed on can never be replicated with natural ageing to take into consideration.  The colour of newspaper was never pure white in 1974 or in 2014, the texture itself remains exclusive to these wonderful, magical 1974 originals. MEASURING 11.25 "x 8 .25", ALL 14 PAGES ARE PERFECTLY SECURED WITHOUT ANY CREASES, TEARS OR DAMAGE,   THERE WAS NOT THE USUAL CENTRAL FOLD OR CREASE MADE DURING THE CONCERT.  A FEW GENTLE RIPPLES WERE THERE IN 1974!  IN FACT, I CANNOT BELIEVE THE CARE TAKEN TO CARRY THIS THROUGH THE CONCERT AND THEN HOME, FOLLOWED BY 40 YEARS OF ABSOLUTELY PERFECT STORAGE. Grading tour programmes has always been the hardest task possible, the second they were bought you are moving backward's from Mint, handling and usually folding began for convenience during the concerts. I have sold so many over the decades, I have become accustomed to applying common sense and honesty, even the thick glossy  thick cardboard programmes from the 1980's onwards wore on the edges, spines, corners, like album covers!  For frailty and vulnerability to severe wear, this is the one at the top of not only Pink Floyd programmes, but any artist you can name, I'm writing this as a Pink Floyd collector since 1966, so this is incorporating personal experience of getting programmes through the gigs and safely back home.  From sitting on the floor to being outdoors in all weathers, precious programmes needed great dedication to survive at all, this programme had the staples through newspaper and even the outside cover was also newspaper and not stiff cardboard.  Just saying all 14 pages are perfectly secure without any tears around the staples, a grading term in itself, but these staples are not even rusty and still have shiny metal.   The paper itself was never white and this is mighty close to the original 1974 colour, ageing is at the most minimal I know to be possible and certainly not an issue and authenticity demands the colour of 50 year old newspaper!   THE SAME OBVIOUSLY APPLIES TO THE OUTSIDE COVER ABOUT NOT HAVING ANY FOLDS, CREASES, SCUFFS AND   BARELY ANY HANDLING TRACES.  THE CORNERS, EDGES AND EVEN THE SPINE ARE ALL IN REMARKABLY UNWORN   CONDITION.  CONSIDERING THIS IS THE SAME UNTREATED PAPER USED FOR A COMIC OR A NEWSPAPER, IT SURVIVED   A CONCERT AND ALL THOSE YEARS IN TRULY OUTSTANDING, BEAUTIFUL NEAR MINT CONDITION.   Although "Dark Side Of The Moon" was released in March 1973, Pink Floyd did not actually take the album on tour until November   and December,1974 in the UK, then onto America in 1975.   They toured Britain extensively, beginning in the Usher Hall, Edinburgh,   Scotland the 4th November and finishing the tour at The Hippodrome, Bristol on the 14th December.  A time lapse since the album   was released was not   wasted, Roger Waters has begun writing new material and that was taken into their concerts, as I explain   in the respective album descriptions, that allowed new songs to develop live on stage before taking them into a recording studio.   To introduce new unheard songs to audiences, the lyrics were very thoughtfully printed inside this tour programme, Pink Floyd's   concern for their fans can always be found in exceptional and imaginative programmes, they do not get much more imaginitive than   this one!  Collecting does take over your life, but the Pink Floyd programmes are as esential as the albums, simply because they   were all interconnected to the albums. To turn one into a real comic was more than unique and if you only own one of their superb   programmes, this very special 1974 work of art is great to read and not for just items like lyrics.  There is none of  the usual tour   personel, dates and venues, instead this was all about just having fun, a programme dominated by a very funny sense of humour is unheard of today.   "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" was dedicated to founder member Syd Barrett, and in the following year, released on both sides of   "Wish You Were Here."  Written straight from the heart by Roger, who was Syd's best friend at school. Very Interesting to see the   original 1974 lyrics were not in any way altered or embellished, with only the one additional verse required to end the album with.   I guess I have written more than enough about "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" in ebay descriptions of "Wish You Were Here," the LP    I regard as being Pink Floyd's most emotionally written and performed.   The other freshly written Roger Waters lyrics were for the   "Raving And Drooling" and "Gotta Be Crazy" pair, they were performed live in 1974 & 1975, it would be a further two years before   they made it onto an album.  They were both re-written and went onto to became "Sheep" and "Dogs" on the 1977 "Animals" album. The time lapse after 1973 also meant massive inputs went into preparing this "Dark Side Of The Moon" tour programme, to the point   we had never seen the like of in 1974 or ever since then.  Comic style Underground mags & 'Fritz The Cat' etc. were very popular in the early 1970's, you could also get away with otherwise obscene material and drawings!  There is only a splattering of nudity in this tour programme, but the comic book format was taken to extremes and you had one of those silly "Lifelines" with the band answering inane questions with great humour.  They also starred in heroic roles via the comic strip stories, where else would you find 'Rog Of The Rovers' and follow such a gripping tale of that footballing legend, Roger Waters?  Here you can see him playing in the really important Championship deciding match for the mighty Grantchester Rovers.  Dark deeds are happening there though, horror of horrors, the star player Roger Waters gets doped by the cheating, nasty team they are facing.  A massage to revive him and our heroic Roger makes it back onto the field to extract revenge by scoring the winning goal!     After all the excitement of that opening story we are back in the middle of the Second World War to find a certain Captain Mason   of the Royal Navy facing a mission fraught with terrible danger. Brave Nick has to mover come all odds to ensure his ship's cargo of vital fuel makes it to Egypt, only to be hit by a torpedo fired by a German submarine.  Nick has a rather cunning plan though, he uses his ship as a battering ram to sink the submarine.  Fun and games continue for 'The Exploits of Dave (Gilmour) Derring,' the country lad who fulfills a deams of becoming a motorbike speedway race winner.  'Rich Right - He's Rich & He's Right!' finds Rick Wright living the life of a high society playboy among the wealthy and some scantily dressed young ladies.   All good clean wholesome fun and  like all comics, tales of our heroic four are best read at night with a torch under covers. The artist who had contributed to the centre spread will be very well known to Pink Floyd fans for his amazing work on "The Wall" album, from 1979 onwards, Gerald Scarfe.  His brilliantly drawn caricature of Pink Floyd takes the pride of place on the two centre pages, signed and dated this at the bottom is,"Gerald Scarfe, Pink Floyd, Oct 1974." Which tells us how it had to be one of the final pieces to complete the enormous amount of work and attention that went into producing this really special Pink Floyd tour programme, in readiness for the first gig on the 4th of November, 1974. All that leaves is the intruiging Sci-Fi cover, please see my picture if you are unfamiliar with the scene, in the 'word bubble' comic format, two aliens are pondering if there is creative intelligence maybe on our planet.  That is not specified but our moon was perhaps the intended siting for a large strange looking construction by an unknown civilisation.  They are in fact examining a prism shape with a spectrum of colours, sound familiar from a certain album cover?   The outside back cover is also in colour, in comic book style asking how to make a "Pink Floyd Lucky Pyramid sign" and this warning is given:    "Not recommended for people with warts, eczema, psoriasis or athlete's foot." I have described the staggering condition in full in my headings, the only other thing I will re-emphasise is the actual paper of the programme was authentic newspaper/comic paper, it never was a pure white colour.  In all the decades of buying and selling Pink Floyd rarities, this is without any question the finest condition I have ever seen, there are no blemishes at all, most are in   a terrible state now.  Comparing the authentic comic or newspaper for the outside cover and pages to one of their 1980's / 1990's programmes, with laminated thick card covers and the glossy internal pages, is to appreciate how sensational the condition of this really is.  My pictures show how superb the condition is, ageing is always inevitable and highly likely after 40 year, this is in rather nicely aged, remarkable Near Mint condition. I have deliberately listed this today because tomorrow I will be offering a stunning unplayed March, 1973, very first pressing of "Dark Side Of The Moon" as the very rare first record without a solid blue triangle on the labels.  Left unplayed due to being an EMI 'Factory Sample" and amazingly the maitrix & stamping codes are identical to the last solid blue triangle pressing, complete with all first edition items as well.  The details of this tour programme and is are interconnected with "Dark Side Of The Moon" and the entire album was performed live on the tour before they recorded it.  This description for the tour programme will allow me to concentrate on the complex pressing details and compliment the album.......as this major UK Pink Floyd tour programme was intended to in 1974. {Roy}     R & M RECORDS. My lifetime's love of music and records began at a very young age, the arrival of the Beatles and the 1960's decade   in general had a very profound effect. It was only natural to bring all my first hand experience of collecting vinyl   into becoming a professional record seller.  Over twenty years ago now we entered into the wonderful atmosphere of record fairs with the highest possible standards set. When the Internet became the world's new market place for   vinyl, in 2001 it was time to join ebay. Those standards were rigidly adhered to as they will always continue to be, the basics of honesty and integrity were very much part of the era the music I love originated in, so here is our friendly and very efficient service we are proud to provide; EVERY RECORD IS FULLY PLAYED AND COMES WITH A 'NO ARGUMENT' MONEY BACK GUARANTEE.   I USE GOOD OLD COMMON SENSE AS WELL AS A GLOBALLY ACCEPTED GRADING TERMINOLOGY   FROM THE U.K. "RECORD COLLECTOR PRICE GUIDE" BOOK. THERE IT CLEARLY STATES "Sound Quality" AFFECTS EVERY GRADING LEVEL AND THAT IS THE ONE AND ONLY POSSIBLE WAY TO ACCURATELY GRADE RECORDS. i.e. COMBINING A STRICT VISUAL INSPECTION WITH VERY CLOSELY LISTENING TO EVERY SECOND, UNLESS PERHAPS IN THE CASE OF GENUINELY UNPLAYED VINYL.  EVEN THEN WE STILL TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR A RECORD WHEN A CUSTOMER RECEIVES EITHER A SEALED OR AN UNPLAYED RECORD.   MY DESCRIPTIONS WILL ALWAYS BE 100% HONEST AND TOTALLY ACCURATE ON ALL GRADINGS FROM 'V.G.' ( VERY GOOD), TO THE ULTIMATE 'MINT' CONDITION. ANY QUESTIONS ON OUR ITEMS ARE WELCOMED AND WILL BE PROMPTLY REPLIED TO.   WE ARE FULLY EXPERIENCED AT SHIPPING WORLDWIDE AND NO EFFORT IS SPARED TO PROTECT RECORDS AND COVERS ETC.  WE WELCOME BIDDERS FROM ANY COUNTRY IN THE WORLD. UNDER PAYPAL & EBAY'S GUIDELINES, ALL RECORDS WILL BE SENT VIA A FULLY INSURED TRACKABLE SERVICE. We have kept all our charges at the same level for years now, but due to the Post Office's new price increases, regretfully we will have to increase the cost of LP's, however, singles will remain unchanged.  Ebay were aware of that happening and have   increased their minimum postal cost for LP's to £7.00, that figure has been enforced by the UK Post Office and it will become our UK First Class, Recorded Delivery cost for albums up to the value of £46.   For LP's valued above £46, the cost will be £9, we are unhappy about either increase but our high standard of packaging has meant in 12 years of ebay trading, there has not been one record damaged, we are determined to maintain that in the present and future.
