Original innersleeve. Chas. Remue & his New Stompers recorded what is widely considered to be the first jazz disc by a Belgian Europe band. The band recorded in total 7 records (1927) by Edison Bell. Until now, only a pair of their other Edison Bell recordings were offered, the last one sold $570. Internet research let see and hear some of recordings on you.tube, but there's no one from this record! You seldom ever see these, it has never been on the world market. Impossible to find in any conditon... extremely rare and respectable copy of this world class record ! Charles Remue and his New Stompers Orchestra was from Brussels, Belgium. They were one of the best European jazz bands of the 1920s, unfortunately they were only together for less than a year. They disbanded and the leader of the band Charles Remue left to take a job with the Savoy Orpheans . Stan Brenders was a pioneer of Belgian Jazz, after joining the band with Charles Remue & his New Stompers he became one of the most important band leaders in Belgium. He played for the INR the Belgian National Radio and created INR's Jazz Orchestra in January 1936. During the war years, Brenders disguised many American song titles to get around Nazi censorship. One of the great victories of jazz against the fascists came in spring of 1942, when the Brenders band backed eight performances in Belgium by Belgian-born French gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt, all of the activity organized strictly guerilla style in outright defiance of the Nazi edict against swinging music ( SWING TANZEN VERBOTEN !). But with the defeat of the swastika crowd, Brenders' music became less and less swinging, with increasing use of schmaltzy strings... Alphose Cox played trumpet with Django Reinhardt and with the British band of Billy Arnold... ............................... WORLDWIDE SHIPPING !
