I will be selling many Bluegrass albums from my collection over the next few months, many of them from the Stanley Brothers. To kick off my auctions I am selling my two rarest albums. This is the second and rarest record in my collection, not because of the record itself, but because of the autographs. The back cover is autographed by Ralph Stanley (upper left corner on back) and Carter Stanley (upper right corner on back). (Carter Stanley died on Dec 1, 1966 and his brother Ralph died in June of last year and he is sorely missed as he was my favorite banjo player whom I got to know personally. I was the promoter for two performances here in Oak Ridge, Tennessee where I live. The first show was Ralph with Bill Monroe. The second was Ralph with the Knoxville Grass.) This album was recorded on Feb 8, 1961 for King Records in their studio in Cincinnati Ohio. The musicians were: Carter Stanley – GuitarRalph Stanley – BanjoCurley Lambert – MandolinVernon Derrick – FiddleChick Stripling – Bass The record is in bad shape with scratches. The cover outwardly is in good shape but it is split some along the top and bottom. But the value of this record is in the autographs. Ralph signed thousands of albums. Carter’s autograph is much rarer, but both are valuable. Feel free to contact me for further questions. On Aug-30-17 at 19:13:18 PDT, seller added the following information: I just obtained a picture of Carter Stanley's autograph on a song and picture book that shows this autograph is the same. I can email it to you for comparison.
