This auction includes two albums: Songs, Pictures and Stories of the Fabulous Beatles with STEREO sticker and a Stereophonic Introducing the Beatles. The importance is with the Songs, Pictures and Stories cover w/sticker and the two different vinyl Stereo Labels. See all 12 photos for images of both album covers and stereo labels. Please read carefully. This is an original Vee Jay 3/4 Gatefold Songs, Pictures and Stories of the Fabulous Beatles. Most everyone probably knows this, but for those unfamiliar, there were later releases sold in stores under the name Songs and Pictures of the Fabulous Beatles, which was not a gatefold at all. Furthermore, there was never a vinyl label titled Songs, Pictures and Stories of the Fabulous Beatles. Vee Jay simply used their vinyl stock with the Introducing the Beatles labels to be sold with the Songs, Pictures and Stories album covers. What makes this copy special is the Stereo Sticker. I have consulted an expert. The sticker is real, albeit cut down in size. I am not positive, but it looks like there is some glue residue around the sticker. If that is the case, that could mean the sticker was transferred from another copy, or possibly came off for one reason or another and was reattached. I have taken a close shot of the stereo sticker which can be compared to the enlarged photo in the listing on fab4collectibles. Go to: http://www.fab4collectibles.com/veejay-other-significant.htm and scroll down to the copy with the red rectangular Stereo sticker for comparison and for details regarding the stereo sticker item. Fab4 Collectibles lists this sticker version as the "Ultra-Rare Version." The condition of the gatefold cover is probably average. There are what appears to be 4 small staple holes at the top of the letter B in Beatles which are present on the interior as well as the back cover in John's hair. There are stress lines and dings and the corners are unimpressive. You will notice a tear along the interior of the spine when you open the gatefold. The vinyl label has the VJ brackets with STEREO at the 3 o'clock position. I listened to the record on a Crosley Stereo with a new needle prior to creating this listing. The record is smooth in sound on side 1 with some crackle leading into Ask Me Why. The record is smooth on side 2 except for some crackle before Please, Please Me and some crackle on Do You Want to Know a Secret. There is one skip during Please, Please Me. The original white VJ record sleeve with "Other Fine Albums of Significant Interest" is of course included. I decided to place an Introducing the Beatles album in this listing as well mainly to give the purchaser a different stereo label version. As you can see in the photos someone couldn't resist writing the Beatles members names on the front and back of the cover, which is unfortunate. The label is VJ without the brackets. STEREO is at the 9 o'clock position above VJLP 1062. I listened to this disc too and it sounds GREAT. Smooth with no crackle, pop or skips. I think the label is also very nice and makes a great companion to the Songs, Pictures, and Stories, as either vinyl could be paired with it. This particular album comes with a red VJ record sleeve. As a note, generally I don't listen to some of the harder to find records as I collect them for the covers and labels and like to make sure the record is kept in the best condition possible. These records are kept separately in non-scratching and anti-static sleeve protectors. The VJ inner sleeves are kept separately as well. Contiguous USA sales / shipping only. PayPal payment only.
