Please read my GeneralInformation following the item description before placing a bid. The Moody Blues On The Threshold Of A Dream Decca DeramSMC 1035 1969 UK stereo vinyl LPrecord ThisLP is in EX condition visually (vinyl) and G condition aurally. The sleeve is in VG+condition. As with all my vinyl items, this record has been mine from new. Forthe first year or so it was played on a Garrard AT6 deck (not on autochange),then on a Thorens TD160. This was one of my favourites for a while so wasplayed a lot for a few years, but has been played very little since the 80s. Grading VISUALLY:EX for thevinyl and for the sleeve – more detail below. AURALLY:G for more detail see below. The sleeve has some slight scuffing to the cornersat the hinge, some minor chipping at the edge, some minor creasing at thebottom left back, and faint ringmarks on the back. The booklet is immaculate. InnerSleeve Theinner sleeve is slightly crumpled. RecordEX Thevinyl looks immaculate! ListeningTest: G It’sbeen a while for this one, so lets see how all that early playing shows up. Onside 1 there is crackle in the run-in that continues a little way into track 1but then seems to fade into the background for the rest of the side. On side 2the initial crackle is much louder and again continues into track 1 but seemsto have faded well into the background by track 2. However the LP plays wellwithout hops or skips and it’s still a good solid sound. Overall I’d rate it asGood. GENERAL INFORMATION After a few years absence, dealing with a house move andmedical mechanical issues, I’m back, selling my vinyl, science fiction, and theoccasional other item. Before my ‘absence’ I sold hundreds of Science Fictionbooks and magazines, and I had made a start on selling my vinyl, LPs, EPs andsingles. During this selling period I received top ratings throughout – you cancheck them out on my profile. All vinyl is from my own personal collection, dating from1950s onwards, and has been owned from new only by me. I was fanatical aboutcare of my vinyl, as friends will testify. I never lent out any of my records, and so, unless stated otherwise for pre-1970 items, records have only ever beenplayed on a Thorens TD 160 deck equipped with a Shure M75 ED TYPE 2 cartridge. They have always been stored within their sleeves, and cleaned before playing. Before being offered for sale, each disc is cleaned withcleaning fluid and cloth, cleaned with a carbon fibre brush on the turntableand then played. Usually listening is done through AKG headphones to give amore intimate feel for any faults. The speakers are Leak Delta 75s, which willcertainly show up any vinyl noises. A note is made of any audio defects. The item will be packaged in a purpose made strong cardboardenvelope with additional protection from corrugated cardboard sheets whereappropriate. The disc itself will be in a new plain white inner sleeve, packedoutside the card outer sleeve. The original inner sleeve will be inside theouter. PRICING I use ebay’s recommendations as a guide, also noting whatdealers are asking for a similar item, but ultimately it’s my feeling of whatis the minimum I would be happy to accept for this record. The price you seeincludes packaging, but postage is extra, as shown. FEEDBACK I appreciate feedback because it helps me to know if I’mgrading things fairly. No matter what grading system you claim to follow, it’sstill highly subjective. But in the 7 years since I was last selling vinyl oneBay there seems to have been a change in attitude on feedback – i.e. buyersdon’t seem to leave it anymore. I could speculate as to why that might be so,but this is not the place. So, on items I sell, I shall only leave feedbackwhen I know you are happy with your item and when you have left me feedback.Fair enough? If you are not happy, then please contact me and I’m sure we canreach an amicable agreement. GRADING I use a Grading system as described below as a guide. Idon’t use the term ‘Mint’, because that should apply only to a record that isstill sealed in its original packaging and has never been played. All mine havebeen played: that’s why I bought them! In fact, due to the production processused for vinyl there was probably never an LP in mint condition! Audio gradingis by its very nature somewhat subjective: if you feel I have over graded (oreven under graded!) then please let me know. In my listening test I will giveas full a description as possible so you can form your own opinion. Excellent: The record shows some signs of having beenplayed, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and anycontent might have slight wear and/or creasing. Very Good: The record has obviously been played, butdisplays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite visible surface marksand the occasional light scratch. There will be normal wear and tear on thecover, inner sleeve and other content, consistent with the playing of therecord, without any major defects. Good: The record has been played many times, so that thesound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some instances ofdistortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents will suffer from scuffingof the edges and corners, folding, maybe some splits, discolouration, etc. I might further use VG+ for a record which I feel is betterthan Good but not quite Excellent. However, I shall give a full visual andaudio description so you decide for yourself. Anything less than Good will have been scrapped, unless ithas some unusual feature. Finally, on the point of rarity, I shall make no claims onthis score – you’ll have to decide that for yourself.
