Description Normal 0 “GAMES FOR MAY” Package PINK FLOYD/SYD BARRETT50 years ago, seems like yesterday, on 12 May 1967 I went to the Queen Elizabeth Hall to see “Games for May”, described as a "Space age relaxation for the climax of spring – electronic composition, colour and image projection, girls, and THE PINK FLOYD". Suffice to say, I and the rest of the audience, had never seen anything like it. Never mind the music, which went in directions that no music had ever gone before, never mind all the weird happenings on stage; what blew everyone’s minds was the first ever use of a 360 degree sound system – the amazing Azimuth Co-ordinator. The only souvenir I had was the A5 flyer (no mobile filming then), which was stuck to the wall for many years. I’d forgotten I had it but Fate must have decided that fifty years was a suitable time for it to lay hidden and I found it, by chance, at the bottom of a box of stuff the other day. Amazingly it’s not torn or creased but there is a line of sellotape along the top and bottom edge, which I haven’t dared remove. (It’s also stained the back – see photo – but that doesn’t affect the front) However, I’ve never seen another one for sale and, given how people used to treat this sort of thing as disposable, it could be the last complete one in existence for all I know. As you probably know “Games for May” was the original title for "See Emily Play" so it seemed appropriate to sell the single as part of a package of my early Floyd mementoes. I’m including Pink Floyd's first single with non album tracks “Arnold Layne' / 'Candy And A Currant Bun” and Pink Floyd's fifth single titled "Point Me At The Sky /Careful With That Axe, Eugene" as well as, "See Emily Play" / “Scarecrow” The Singles: ARNOLD LAYNE / CANDY AND A CURRENT BUNGRADED AS “VERY GOOD” This is the rare Mono UK 1ST PRESSING with "sold in the uk subject to resale price conditions" labels with “THE Pink Floyd” on them CATALOGUE NUMBER DB 8156 SIDE ONE MATRIX: 7XCA 27877-1 GR KT 1 SIDE TWO MATRIX: 7XCA 27878-1 GM KT 1 Made In England in 1967. It has the solid center and comes in the original Columbia Wavy Top Flipback Company Sleeve. There is a trace of a sticker mark on the A side label and there are some spindle marks to both sides but nothing too drastic for a 50 year old record. Despite quite a lot of hairline surface marks, the record still plays well and still sounds really good. The sleeve has some creasing and a couple of tiny tears but is still, easily, gradable as “VERY GOOD” SEE EMILY PLAY / SCARECROW GRADED AS “VERY GOOD” This is also a rare Mono UK 1ST PRESSING with "sold in the uk subject to resale price conditions" labels with “THE Pink Floyd” on them CATALOGUE NUMBER DB 8214 SIDE ONE MATRIX: 7XCA 30214-1 HP KT 1 3 SIDE TWO MATRIX: 7XCA 30215-1 HP KT 3 Made In England in 1967. It has the 4 prong push-out center and comes in the original Columbia Wavy Top Flipback Company Sleeve. This is in similar condition to Arnold Layne; there are some spindle marks to both sides but nothing too drastic for a 50 year old record. Despite quite a lot of hairline surface marks, the record still plays well and still sounds really good. The sleeve has some creasing and a couple of tiny tears but is still, easily, gradable as “VERY GOOD” POINT ME AT THE SKY / CAREFUL WITH THAT AXE EUGENE GRADED AS “VERY GOOD” This is the Floyd's fifth single and another rare Mono UK 1ST PRESSING with "sold in the uk subject to resale price conditions" labels although the group are now just “Pink Floyd” CATALOGUE NUMBER DB8511 SIDE ONE MATRIX: 7XCA 32288-1 KT 0 SIDE TWO MATRIX: 7XCA 32289-1 KT R 1 Made In England in 1968. It has the 4 prong push-out center and comes in the original Columbia Wavy Top Flipback Company Sleeve. This is in similar condition to the other two there are some spindle marks to both sides but nothing to drastic for a 50 year old record. Despite quite a lot of hairline surface marks, the record still plays well and still sounds really good but there are a couple of crackles and hisses in the quiet passages, though nothing bad enough to downgrade it.. The sleeve has some creasing and a couple of tiny tears but is still, easily, gradable as “VERY GOOD” “The Committee” promotion booklet I’m also selling another rare curio; the film promotion booklet for the underground film “The Committee” which had music by Pink Floyd (as well as a guest appearance by The Crazy World of Arthur Brown and starred Paul Jones of Manfred Mann and The Blues Band) To be fair the Floyd only get a mention in the credits but, again, it is an amazingly rare item which no serious collector of Floyd memorabilia should be without. Press cuttings Finally I unearthed some early music press cuttings relating to the Floyd and Syd Barrett. Unfortunately I can’t find any relating to Games For May or other very early concerts, although some are mentioned in the interviews with band members.
